Bailey & Tyler:
Bailey is about a 7 year old male who weighs about 75 pounds. Tyler is about a 5 year old male who weighs about 70 pounds. Tyler, in particular, really likes to play with balls. They will both sit and stay on command. They have lived their lives as house dogs with small children in the home. They have mild fears of thunderstorms and may hide or sit in the bathtub during a storm. They are well-behaved and calm dogs of medium energy. They do not jump up on people or dig and are not barkers. They have spent their lives together and would love to stay together in their new home.

Hi, I'm Buck Hi, I'm Buck
  Buck:
is a 14 month old male who was given up due to a lack of time to pay attention to him....and attention is just what this sweet guy wants. In addition to not paying enough attention to him, his original owners neglected to teach him some basic manners. Luckily Buck is a fast learner and he's catching on that it is not ok to jump up on people, to beg at the table, to burst through doors and so on. He is a real lovebug and loves to rest his head on your lap and lay next to you if you sit on the floor. He knows come and sit and does not pull on the leash. Other than still learning to control his body a bit, he is great with everyone, including kids and other dogs.

Hi, I'm Sunny Hi, I'm Sunny
Sunny:
is about 2-3 years old. She was found wandering the streets by a caring man who provided her with shelter and meals. She has a sweet personality although she’s very shy. In her foster home, she is learning social skills, walking on a leash and enjoying car rides. Sunny is very gentle, knows basic commands, and is housebroken. She gets along with children and other dogs. Her foster family is helping her overcome her fears.

Hi, I'm Bob Barker Bob Barker:
is a 5-1/2 month old male puppy. He was rescued from a breeding facility that was shut down due to unsanitary conditions. Bob is a bit on the shy side and quite mellow for a pup of his age. He gets along well with other dogs. Since he still has an abundance of puppy energy, he would do best in a family with older children. Bob Barker has found his forever home. He successfully convinced his foster family that he wanted to stay with them.

Hi, I'm Cowboy Cowboy:
is an 11 month old male Golden Retriever weighing approximately 70 lbs. He is extremely sweet and loves the dogs and cats in his foster home. He has not had an accident in the house. He was kept outside most of the time at his previous home and wasn't given a whole lot of attention. With some time and attention he is going to be an awesome dog. His ideal family will only be gone from the house for 4-5 hours max, as he still needs to be crated. He loves kids as he was raised with them, but should not be placed in a home with young kids as he doesn't know his manners yet. He would do great as an only dog or with other dogs.

Hi, I'm Shelby Click me for a larger picture
Shelby:
Shelby is a sweet 8 year-old blond Golden. Dont let her age fool you! Shelby is very frisky and puppy-like and adores her tennis ball and bone. She loves to go for walks and hang out with her human buddies. Shelby needs to be the only pet in her adoptive home, as she becomes quite jealous when expected to share the affection of her human companions.

For more information on Shelby, please visit our Goldens with Special Needs page here.

Hi, I'm Truman Truman:
is a 6 year 8 months old fun-loving boy! He knows basic commands, is crate trained, and is very eager to please. His ideal family would have both children and another dog, as this boy loves to play! He does pull on his leash, as he has not been walked much; so he will need someone to teach him some basic leash manners.

Hi, I'm Lucy Hi, I'm Lucy
Lucy:
is a blonde female, who is estimated to be 3-4 years old. She was found abandoned and chained to the animal shelter by a volunteer who was arriving to care for the animals there in Waynesville, MO. Two other purebred dogs were chained along with her. Lucy was most likely a family pet, as she appears to be well cared for. More information will be available once Lucy's foster family gets to know her.

Annie:
is a very happy dog. She loves to play tug of war, chase or hide and seek,& fetch (she's not real good about giving it back yet!). She will shake hands & sit, but her stay and lay down need a little more work. She will play "go to sleep or dead dog" when you have her full attention. She is leash trained, doesn't pull or tug. Annie loves the water, and doesn't mind a bath. She likes being brushed and combed, except for her tail, she will tolerate that as long as someone holds her and talks to her. I think that is because it was so full of burrs and stickers that we had to trim some of it out. She gets along great with the house cat, but would like to chase the barn cats, she probably wouldn't if they'd stop running from her. She minds well for the most part, but like most young dogs can be hardheaded at times. She loves attention, likes to sit next to you and lean against you. She has never got up on the furniture, she doesn't gulp her food, but she will splash in the water bowl sometimes. She loves treats, and doesn't grab them from your hand, and loves apples! Especially yellow ones.

Hi, I'm Gordon Gordon:
is a 3-1/2 year old male, has a beautiful golden-colored coat. He is housebroken and crate trained. Gordon is great with other dogs, and he loves children. His favorite toys are tennis balls and squeaky toys, although he generally removes the squeakers. Playing in the sprinkler or a kiddie pool is his favorite way to cool off on a hot day. Gordon walks well on a leash and loves going for car rides. He knows several basic commands as well. This sweet boy craves attention and will be a devoted companion for his adoptive family.

Hi, I'm Bernie Hi, I'm Bernie Hi, I'm Bernie
Bernie:
is a 5 year old male who was a favorite of the kennel staff during his stay there. While he dislikes small, high energy dogs with high-pitched barks, Bernie and Maggie (also on our website) were the best of buddies when he was at the kennel. He is great with people and adores anyone who gives him attention. Bernie will be a great addition to the family who is looking for a loyal, well-mannered friend.

Hi, I'm Sundance Sundance:
is a medium energy 2-3 yr old small female Golden Retriever. When she came to GGRR from the state she was a wild child. She has settled down nicely and is housetrained. She loves to play with other dogs, after a warming up period, but sometimes will drive them crazy when outside. When inside, she either entertains herself or lays around. She loves cats. She is extremely smart and very, very sweet. Her ideal home will have a young dog who likes to play a lot, or she would also do great as an only dog. Sundance was adopted by a wonderful family with an 11yr. old boy who is going to have a best buddy now to play with. She is the only dog and so will get all the attention instead of sharing it with her foster brothers.

Hi, I'm Cody Cody:
Cody is about 2 years old. He was found wandering the streets in search of a good meal. Having found a generous woman, he got several good meals and his shots. Cody is very high energy, but the sweetest boy ever!! Cody loves balls, knows "sit" and "shake". He's almost completely housebroken and is now starting to get used to wearing a collar. Cody, tipping the scales at 70lbs, has but one eye....his left eye is missing, but it doesn't slow him down one bit. He gets along well with other dogs, and even plays with cats. Cody was adopted August 26, 2006. He has 2 Golden sisters that are 10 (Madge) and 4 (Ellie). His new mom thought that Ellie (also from GGRR) could use a new playmate since Madge was getting older. Also his mom and dad are losing another son to college next year, so they are trying to fill up their empty house! Mom and Day say that Cody makes them laugh everyday with his exuberence.
Cody 2

Duke:
Duke is nice 23 month old male. He has a sweet disposition. He does need some direction and socialization. He is eager to please and is very smart. He will make nice addition to someone who is willing to work and train him

Hi, I'm Bailey Bailey:
is a handsome, energetic male who is 3 years old. He gets along well with both dogs and cats. He loves children, but would be best with older children since he weighs 85 pounds. Bailey spends these hot summer days lounging in his kiddie swimming pool. With some basic obedience training, Bailey will make a wonderful companion for an active family. Bailey went to his new home which includes dad and one canine sister. His sister is not sure if she likes him yet, but his dad is crazy about him. His family is very active and will take Bailey to lots of new places and show him what fun is all about.

Hi, I'm Maggie Maggie:
Maggie is a 2 yr. old high energy female. She 12 grew up in a household with kids and was great with them. She is great with cats. She loves other dogs, but might take a little adjustment as she doesn't quite understand the alpha dog principle. She is very sweet and prefers being by your side. She wasn't taught many manners, so her foster mom is working with her on them.

Hi, I'm Ginger Won't you come and play with me? Ginger
Ginger:
Ginger, a healthy, 7-month-old, golden retriever, is good with kids and other dogs. She is housetrained and knows some basic commands. She is high energy, but that's normal for a healthy, 7-month-old puppy.

Hi, I'm Tucker Hi, I'm getting ready to walk in the St. Patrick's Day parade!! This should be exciting!! Hi, I'm Tucker
  Tucker:
Tucker is a 5 month old puppy who lost his home. Tucker will be ready for adoption soon. He is currently living with his foster family, and he gets along very well with his 3 golden retriever brothers.
March, 2006:
Tucker came into rescue approximately 2 months ago, as shown in the picture on the left. The picture on the right was taken in the staging area for Saint Louis' Saint Patrick's Day Parade, held in downtown Saint Louis on March 11th. While the day proved to be a tiring day for the puppy, he managed to walk or be carried through most of the day, letting complete strangers pet him and talk to him. Tucker was adopted on Father's Day. He has a new mom and dad, and a 6-year-old golden sister to play with.
